Cast Announcement - The Hunchback of Notre Dame
The famed bells of Notre Dame Cathedral will soon ring out at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal in a new production of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”. It showcases the 1996 Disney film’s Academy Award-nominated score as well as new songs by Alan Menken and Steven Schwartz.
The love story of the beautiful Romany girl Esmeralda (Sarah Millington), the tragically deformed bell-ringer Quasimodo (Zak Charlesworth), the dashing Captain Phoebus (Richard Groves) and the story’s antagonist, Dom Claude Frollo (Simon Theobald) comes alive in this wonderful rendition of the Disney tale narrated by Clopin King of the Gypsies (Chris Grantham). The bold and dramatic storytelling, combined with the music’s full orchestral power and choral beauty provided by a thirty member on-stage choir that joins the cast, promise to take Nottingham audiences back to fifteenth century Paris and inside the cathedral walls made famous by Victor Hugo’s novel.
