Information Regarding Coronavirus

We hope you are keeping well during this difficult time. Our thoughts go out to those affected by COVID-19 and to those who have continued to work on the front line.

So much has changed since March, and the economic situation for live theatre and those in the performing arts is worrying.

At Nottingham Operatic, we had to make the sad decision to postpone our 2020 musical - our first production of ‘Guys and Dolls’. Our first priority is the health and safety of our performers, supporters, front of house and backstage teams. This show will now take place in October 2023.

We now find ourselves in a very different landscape, establishing new rituals and routines, and finding new, often unexpected, ways to meet, rehearse and perform. We thank all our members, production team, supporters and key suppliers for their understanding, flexibility and creativity during these challenging times.

The good news is that we are a strong Society - not just financially - we have a strong membership and amazing support from the theatre going public in Nottingham.

We are incredibly lucky to have worked with Disney Theatrical and MTI (Europe) to be able to stage a production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame opening on 26 October 2022.

This is a wonderful new musical, based on the Victor Hugo novel, with songs from the beloved 1996 Disney film. Music is by Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin) and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Pippin, Wicked).

As this will be a premiere in a major theatre, there is already huge excitement about this production. We hope to have the largest cast ever in our history.
